Sleeping on your stomach

Disadvantages : When you’re on your stomach with your head to one side, your neck is constantly twisted and your spine collapses because it’s unsupported, compressing your internal organs.
In short : Snoring, bad breathing, digestion made difficult, neck and back pain… You run many risks of discomfort when sleeping on your stomach.
Sleeping on your side
The position : Lying on the left or right side, legs bent or extended, arms extended along the body or bent in front of you.
Advantages : Sleeping on the right side frees the liver and relieves it. Conversely, sleeping on the left side helps digestion by freeing the stomach from the weight of the liver. Sleeping on the left side also promotes blood circulation and reduces snoring.
Disadvantages : Sleeping on the side imposes the weight of the body on the shoulder and hip on the chosen side, which makes them more fragile. If the pillow is not thick enough, the neck may also be weak.
In short : The position on the side has several advantages and we can avoid these inconveniences by changing sides regularly (which is done during sleep since we move naturally when we sleep). Furthermore, doctors also recommend that pregnant women sleep on their left side.
Sleeping on your back
The position : On the back, quite straight, the arms along the body, folded on the chest or raised and under the pillow.
Advantages : Lying on your back is considered the best sleeping position by doctors. It promotes breathing and keeps the back, neck, joints and muscles in good shape.
Disadvantages : While sleeping on your back has many advantages, it unfortunately promotes snoring. This position should also be avoided if you are prone to sleep apnea.

Sleeping in the fetal position
The position : Bent over on itself, both legs bent and raised and the arms curled up on the chest, head down.
Advantages : As with the flat-belly sleeping position, the advantages seem to be non-existent, except perhaps from a psychological point of view. After all, putting yourself in the fetal position helps you feel safe, doesn’t it?
Disadvantages : In this position, the chest is compressed, making it difficult to breathe properly. Also, the round back and fully bent limbs will promote joint pain at term.

Sleeping as a couple
